Measure your bow uncocked at its widest point and its overall length with the scope and quiver attached, then check both against the case's published fit specification. TenPoint names about thirty bows; Allen publishes a 15-inch maximum limb width; Excalibur publishes exact external dimensions.
Crossbows vary enormously in width and almost nothing about a product photograph tells you whether yours will fit. That is why the ranking here is driven by what each maker publishes rather than by materials.
In detail
Five cases
TenPoint Narrow Soft Case
A water-resistant padded case with quick-release straps that work sling-style or as a backpack, and the fit list on the listing names about thirty specific bows across forward-draw and reverse-draw layouts. That list is the reason to buy it: case fit is where most online purchases go wrong.
| Published spec | Value |
|---|---|
| Type | Soft, narrow, padded |
| Carry | Two padded quick-release straps, sling or backpack |
| Interior | Foam padded with a hook-and-loop retention strap |
| Storage | Two external zippered pockets, one internal |
| Weather | Water resistant |
| Forward-draw fit | NXT 400, Shadow NXT, Stealth 450, Titan 400/De-Cock/M1/X, Turbo M1/S1/X, TX 440 |
| Reverse-draw fit | Flatline 460, Havoc RS440, Nitro 505/X/XRT, Siege 425/420/RS410, TRX 26/515, Vapor RS470, XR-410 |
What it does well
- An explicit named fit list for both draw layouts
- Backpack straps, which matter on a long walk in
- Three pockets, so the cocking aid and lube travel with the bow
- MOLLE webbing on the exterior pockets

Excalibur Tomb Case
1000D Cordura nylon, 25.2 by 35.43 by 7.87 inches externally, with two internal sleeves, three internal pockets and shoulder straps that turn it into a backpack. 1000D is the heaviest fabric spec on this page — it is the material used for military gear because it does not abrade through.
| Published spec | Value |

SKB iSeries Hard Case for Ravin R26/R29
A gasket-sealed, water and dust tight hard case with high-density foam molded specifically for the Ravin R26, R29 and R29X, padlock holes and stainless protector clips. This is what you buy if the bow is flying or riding in a truck bed, and it costs more than some of the bows on this site.
| Published spec | Value |
|---|---|
| Type | Hard shell, molded foam interior |
| Fit | Ravin R26, R29, R29X |
| Seal | Gasket, water and dust tight |
| Resistance | UV, solvents, corrosion, fungus, impact |
| Security | Padlock holes, stainless protector clips, trigger-release latches |

Allen Titan Copperhead Crossbow Case
A tricot-lined soft case specified for narrow crossbows with a 15-inch or narrower limb width, with a molded external handle. The 15-inch figure is the useful part: it is a number you can check your bow against instead of guessing from a photograph.
| Published spec | Value |
|---|---|
| Maximum limb width | 15 in |
| Type | Soft, tricot lined |
| Carry | Molded external handle |
| Protection | Tricot lining |
| Fit | Narrow crossbows, 15 in limb width or less |
| Weather | Protects gear from the elements |
What it does well
- A published maximum limb width to check against
- Tricot lining will not scuff a finish
- Molded handle rather than a stitched strap

How we picked
Fit certainty first — a named model list beats a width figure beats a photograph — then protection, carry, storage and value. See our methodology.
What each one publishes about fit
| Case | Type | Fit specification | Carry |
|---|---|---|---|
| TenPoint Narrow Soft Case | Soft, padded | About 30 named bows across forward-draw and reverse-draw lists | Two quick-release straps, sling or backpack |
| Excalibur Tomb | Soft, 1000D Cordura | External 25.2 x 35.43 x 7.87 in published | Shoulder straps, converts to backpack |
| Allen Titan Krait | Soft, padded | 37 x 19.5 in; most scoped narrow-limb bows | Padded backpack straps |
| SKB iSeries hard case | Hard, molded foam | Ravin R26, R29, R29X | Snap-down rubber cushion handle |
| Allen Titan Copperhead | Soft, tricot lined | 15 in maximum limb width | Molded external handle |
How to measure your bow
- Uncocked width at the widest point. This is the dimension that has to go through the blind door and into the case — and it is bigger than the cocked figure. Bear X publishes 10 in cocked and 14 in uncocked for the same bow.
- Overall length, including the scope and any attached quiver. A 31.5 in bow with a 9 in scope and a side quiver is not a 31.5 in object.
- Height over the rail, if your scope has a large objective. A 36 mm objective on tall rings adds real height.
- Compare all three to the case's published specification. If the case only gives you a photograph, buy a different case.
Soft or hard
Soft, for almost everybody
A padded soft case protects against weather, scuffing and knocks, packs flat when empty, and carries like a backpack. For driving to a blind and walking in, that is the right tool. Three of the five here are soft, and the cheapest has real backpack straps.
Hard, for travel
The SKB iSeries is gasket-sealed, water and dust tight, with molded high-density foam for three named Ravin models, padlock holes, stainless protector clips and an ambient pressure equalization valve. That last item is what air travel needs. It costs more than several bows on this site and it is the right answer if your bow is flying.
Carry, which matters more than you expect
A 7 lb bow in a 3 lb case on a single handle is ten pounds in one hand for a mile. Padded backpack straps move it onto both shoulders and your back, and three cases here have them — including the cheapest. If your approach is more than a few hundred yards, treat straps as a requirement rather than a feature.
Storage, for everything else
A case that carries the cocking aid, the wax, the rail lube, a spare nock set and the rangefinder is a case you do not have to supplement with a pack. The Excalibur Tomb publishes two internal sleeves, three internal pockets and an exterior pocket; TenPoint's has three pockets plus MOLLE webbing.
Our pick
The TenPoint Narrow Soft Case if your bow is on its list, because fit certainty is worth more than anything else in this category and no other case here offers it. The Allen Titan Krait if you want backpack straps at the lowest price. The Excalibur Tomb if you want the toughest fabric and the most storage. The SKB only if your bow is going on a plane.
